Join Nimíipuu Protecting the Environment in rallying for a free-flowing lower Snake River! All are welcome to this free two-day community gathering. Join to listen, learn, and take meaningful action towards salmon recovery in the Columbia Basin and healing the Snake River.

When: Friday, September 11 (5:30-8:30pm) and Saturday, September 12 (9:00am start)
Where: Hells Gate State Park, Lewiston, Idaho (5100 Hells Gate Rd, Lewiston ID, 83501)

SCHEDULE

Friday, September 11

5:30-7:00pm - Dinner, live music, and interactive Get Out the Vote art activities along the banks of the Snake River.

7:00-8:30pm - Outdoor screenings of Ever Flowing (a short film by the Columbia Snake River Campaign) and an exciting new film (Stay tuned for more information!).

8:30-9:00pm - Speakers and closing.

We recommend reserving a campsite at Hells Gate State Park for Friday night. See below for information on reserving a campsite.

Saturday, September 12

9:00-9:30am - Gather at the Asotin Boat Ramp (light breakfast and coffee provided).

9:30-11:30am - Rally on the water for a free-flowing lower Snake River!

  • Participants will paddle from the Asotin Boat Ramp to Hells Gate State Park (a 2.6-mile paddle downstream).
  • Please bring your own non-motorized watercrafts. See below for information on renting a watercraft.
  • If you’re not able to join us on the river, you are welcome to meet us at Hells Gate State Park and join for the on-land activities.

11:30am-12:00pm: Flotilla welcoming blessing at Hells Gate shoreline.

12:00pm-1:00pm: Salmon lunch and partner tabling.

1:00pm-2:00pm: Speaker program.

2:00-2:30pm: Closing with a blessing, song, and drums. A shuttle will be available back to the Asotin Boat Ramp from Hells Gate.

Please do not park on the grass at Hells Gate State Park. Doing so may result in a fine.

Where to rent watercrafts:

If you are participating in the flotilla, you are responsible for bringing your own non-motorized watercraft (kayak, canoe, raft, etc.). Personal Flotation Devices are also strongly encouraged.

Reserving a campsite: 

  1. Go to getoutside.idaho.gov/hells-gate/camping
  2. Enter the zip code of your residential address.
  3. From the calendar on the left, select a check-in date of Friday, September 11 and a check-out date of Saturday, September 12. Click the green button below the calendar that says “Map View for 9/15 to 9/16”.
  4. Once in map view, if you have any requirements for your site (e.g. ADA sites, RV sites, etc.), check them in on the left. Then, from the map, select any of the three loops. Within those loops, select the site you want to reserve.
  5. Click the red “Reserve” button on the left. Input your vehicle, guest, and payment information, and then select the blue “Reserve” button from the bottom right. Note down what site you reserved before closing out.
  6. When arriving at Hells Gate State Park on September 11, make sure to check in at the Park Office before heading to your campsite and let them know you are a part of the Nimiipuu Protecting the Environment flotilla.
