Recreation

KayakingThe Army Corps of Engineers estimates that removing the four lower Snake River dams to restore a free-flowing river would generate over $300 million in recreation-related economic benefits to the region - more than ten times the recreational value of the reservoirs behind the four dams. Recreational industries like kayaking, rafting, guide services, camping, hiking flourish in natural settings such as free-flowing rivers. That's why outdoor industry companies like Patagonia, Granite Gear, Montrail, Teva, Smartwool, Chaco, Feathered Friends, Heritage Kayaks, Walden Kayaks, Osprey, Prana, Thule and Marmot all want strong, self-sustaining harvestable populations and a federal salmon plan that aims to achieve full restoration.
