The Columbia & Snake Rivers Interactive Map
In a landscape the size of France, the Columbia and Snake Rivers once supported the most prolific salmon runs in the world. At the time of Lewis and Clark, 10 - 16 million adult salmon returned each year from the ocean seeking their natal streams to spawn and die. For countless generations, Pacific salmon have served as the keystone for a diverse tapestry of human communities and wild ecosystems in the Northwest. Today, these magnificent fish face extinction.
