Jon Rosenfield
Jon Rosenfield has been a relentless and articulate advocate for wild salmon and and steelhead for years. Jon is a fisheries ecologist living in Northern California where he has worked in both the public and private sector on
fisheries-related science and policy.
Over the last several years, Jon has been a tireless force for wild salmon
and steelhead, and the communities that depend upon them. In June 2004, for
example, he traveled to Washington DC with others as a member of a "Save Our
Wild Salmon Shuttle", a group of volunteers from across the country who
spend a week in our nation's capitol meeting with Congressional members and
their staff to discuss the needs and benefits of an effective salmon
recovery program for the Columbia and Snake Rivers.
This summer Jon staffed a table for several days at the San Francisco Salmon
Festival, working with other volunteers and talking to visitors about the
plight of salmon and steelhead, its economic implications, and how people
can help out to build support in Congress for our campaign to remove the 4
lower Snake River dams.
Just in the last several weeks, Jon has worked with recreational and
commercial fishermen (and women) in Northern California to meet with the
offices of Senators Boxer and Feinstein to underscore the severity of salmon
population declines and the need for leadership in Congress to develop a
cost-effective, scientifically-credible recovery plan.
Thank you Jon for all of your great work! We look forward to continuing to
work together with you!
